The President’s XI, drawn mostly from the club, posted a healthy 180 runs in their 30 overs, but this was chased down with 4 overs to spare by the Chairman’s XI, thanks to half centuries from Freddy Hoare and Ben Tomkinson. There was some excellent cricket and some of the catching was of the highest quality.
Guest players on the day included Ben Tragett from East Sutton, Luke Mangold and Paul Hope from Egerton, Neil Billings from Tenterden and a welcome return for his first outing on the Marden cricket wicket for hockey stalwart, Gary Marshall.
The opportunity was taken to finally present the 2019 Awards, with Harry Karim winning the 2nd Team Cup, Ben Tomkinson the 1st Team Cup for his 32 wickets, which also won him the League Award, and Club Man of the Year went to Kate Lancaster for her sterling work over the last 10 seasons or so with the Junior Colts.
