The U9s Awards wrap up a strong season for junior cricket

The 2020 season was trying for everyone but the Marden U9 squad did themselves proud. Twenty boys enjoyed Sunday sessions and all improved their bowling, batting and fielding skills with drills and games.

The older boys also had hard ball training in the nets each Wednesday in preparation for the U11s. With over 20 sessions under their belts, they have proved themselves well prepared for hardball cricket next year.

The matchless season ended with an awards ceremony presented by the chairman, Richard Thomas, and orchestrated by John Hutchins, Alan Ennis and Jim Piper. All boys earned themselves a shiny new cricket ball with special awards as follows.

  • Best Batsman: Freddie Storey
  • Best Bowler: Louis Hutchins
  • Best All Rounder: Oliver Theobold
  • The Paul Bayliss Cup for the most improved player: Jamie Puncher
